Laser Skin Resurfacing with Halo in Lubbock, TX

Laser skin resurfacing treatments are a non-invasive solution to remove facial scars, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and remove unsightly or unwanted hair. Laser facial resurfacing employs a carbon-dioxide laser to remove the outer, damaged layers of the skin to allow tighter, younger-looking skin to grow in its place. Halo procedures use fractional laser technology to penetrate the top layer of skin. Depending on the laser setting, light energy is applied to stimulate the creation of collagen and to resurface the top layer of skin. During the procedure, the practitioner will use the Halo “smart scanning” hand piece to achieve this rejuvenation process. Halo is most commonly applied to the face, neck and chest areas.

The Halo laser treatments, developed by Sciton, can deliver outstanding results, giving patients younger-looking skin. Halo treatments range in intensity, number of procedures needed, recovery time, and results so our staff will help patients weigh the trade-off between results and recovery before deciding which treatment is best for them. The most intense and aggressive treatment is the Halo ablative procedure. This single-treatment procedure is a defensive assault against a need for a facelift. By tightening the skin, it will correct severe wrinkles, irregular texture, and sun or age spots. Since it’s the most aggressive, Halo ablative treatment also has the longest recovery time. Patients should be able to return to normal life and activities after a week. Halo non ablative is less aggressive but is used more often to resurface and restore minor to moderately damaged skin. In 2 – 3 treatments patients will have the younger-looking, smoother skin. Recovery time ranges from a few hours to a few days after each treatment.

Patients will have different experiences with Fraxel depending on whether they are receiving the Restore or the Repair treatment. During Fraxel Restore, patients should anticipate mild to moderate discomfort during their procedure. Fraxel Repair patients should anticipate moderate to significant discomfort during their treatment. For this reason, anesthesia is sometimes recommended. Although redness and minor swelling in the treated areas are common immediately following the procedure, patients undergoing this treatment can resume normal activity up to 2 days after their treatment for Fraxel Restore and up to a week after their treatment for Fraxel Repair.

The results will vary patient-to-patient depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment. Visible results have been present up to 5 years following treatment. Since Halo can be repeated as many times as your practitioner deems necessary, the results can last much longer than 5 years with proper maintenance. Because this treatment has the ability to be repeated, it remains at the forefront of non-invasive anti-aging skin treatments.

The amount of treatments required to obtain optimal results vary depending on variables such as skin type, degree of treatment required, etc. Generally, patients that choose Halo can expect to receive 3-5 treatments with several months in between treatments.
