Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT, is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the nonsurgical treatment of fine lines, acne scars, and other skin blemishes. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to prompt the natural production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker, smoother skin with softened wrinkles. The skincare professionals at The Lubbock Plastic Surgery Institute use the Eclipse Micropen to create superficial micro-channels which allows topical gels, creams, and serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin. The benefits of micro-needling are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Eclipse Micropen also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation, hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance.

"Everyone is just so wonderful and all your needs are met beyond expectations and Dr. Schmid is the Best !"- L.E. / Facebook / Feb 01, 2018
"I had the misfortune of having a melanoma and recurring melanomas on my left facial cheek beginning in the fall of 2014. I had the good fortune to get referred to Dr. Mooty. He and his staff are the absolute best in their fields. So caring and compassionate, and so skilled. I have undergone what I consider 4 pretty major surgeries along with a skin graft, and more than a dozen minor cuts and stitch ups to get the individual spots that came back one or two at a time. With what I estimate to have been more than 250 total stitches and the skin graft, one has to look pretty closely now to see any evidence of Dr. Mooty's workmanship. I sincerely hope I never need his services again, but he is the one to call if there is a need. I was truly blessed by finding him."- C.S. / Yelp / Jan 22, 2018
Plasma Rich Platelet Therapy
Microneedling with plasma rich platelet (PRP) therapy, also known as a vampire facelift, increases the benefits of microneedling for radiant, smoother skin. PRP begins by removing some of the patient’s blood so it can be purified and treated until the blood serum is concentrated with healing red blood cells and plasma. Once the PRP is prepared, the skincare professional will perform the microneedling treatment and then apply the blood serum to the micro-injuries created in the skin to help speed the healing process. Including PRP therapy with microneedling can help patients improve their skin tone, color, and texture, as well as treat fine lines, wrinkles, scars, large pores, and other skin damages.
A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse Micropen. A skincare professional at The Lubbock Plastic Surgery Institute will apply a thin layer of topical gel to the skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on the patient’s unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
The feeling associated with the Eclipse Micropen is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable. The procedure takes 15 – 30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated. Immediately after the treatment patients will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 – 4 days, but some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. Utilizing the Eclipse Skin Revive System™ or other quality skincare products recommended by one of our skincare professionals can help to speed up the healing process.

How Many Treatments?
Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks, or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.
Areas To Treat?
Eclipse Micropen can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
