Before your specific PRP therapy treatment begins, a small amount of blood will be taken from your arm and placed in a centrifuge machine. Typically, we draw around four tablespoons of blood. After about 15 minutes, the components of the blood separate and are then ready for use. We will place your concentrated plasma into a syringe and inject it into the predetermined locations. The procedure typically only takes around five minutes, but this will vary in each patient.
The PRP therapy treatments offered at Lubbock Plastic Surgery Institute include:
Hair Restoration – PRP is injected into the scalp, triggering natural hair growth and increasing the blood supply to the hair follicles.
O-Shot® – Also called the orgasm shot, the O-Shot is a PRP procedure that involves injecting plasma into the vagina to improve stress incontinence and sexual dysfunction.
Urinary Incontinence – For this treatment, your PRP is injected into the pelvic floor, prompting your body's natural healing process and improving urinary functions.
What to Expect
Plasma from PRP therapy naturally promotes the production of collagen and natural healing properties from within your tissues. As it uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergic or adverse reactions. You can expect the treatment area to be a bit red after PRP therapy as some traces of red blood cells can make it into the injection. Cold packs can be used on the treatment site to ease any discomfort or minor swelling. We recommend you undergo treatments every 4 – 6 weeks.
