About XEOMIN

While you may have smiled, frowned, and laughed without worry all throughout your life, you may now be noticing the appearance of facial wrinkles caused by these expressions. These lines are called dynamic wrinkles and result from the repetitive use of the facial muscles that make them stay contracted. Dynamic wrinkles form etched lines in the overlying skin that are often noticeable, even when the face is relaxed. XEOMIN is an injectable wrinkle relaxer that, like BOTOX, temporarily relaxes the facial muscles to soften and smooth the appearance of frown lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows. At Lubbock Plastic Surgery Institute, experienced plastic surgeons Dr. Schmid and Dr. Mooty provide a number of nonsurgical wrinkle relaxing treatments, including XEOMIN. Schedule a consultation at our Lubbock or Midland, TX location today to learn if XEOMIN or another cosmetic option can help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Procedure Technique

XEOMIN sessions generally take less than 30 minutes to complete, from start to finish, and are performed in one of our comfortable treatment rooms. The areas of the face being treated will be cleaned before XEOMIN is precisely administered into the targeted sites. Since the process moves relatively quickly and generally does not cause great discomfort, local anesthesia is typically not necessary but may be available upon request. Pressure and cold compresses will be applied to the injection sites after XEOMIN has been administered to reduce minor bleeding and swelling.

What to Expect

You can leave our office immediately after your XEOMIN treatment and resume to your normal activities; however, exercise and other strenuous activities should be avoided until the following day. We may recommend that you sleep in a slightly elevated position and apply cold compresses as needed to expedite recovery and results. After a XEOMIN session, you may experience swelling, bruising, and redness near the treatment sites, but this is generally no cause for concern and can be easily concealed with makeup. Many patients notice obvious improvements in the appearance of forehead lines around 3 – 4 days following their XEOMIN treatment with results lasting approximately three months. Follow-up treatments at Lubbock Plastic Surgery Institute can be arranged to optimize and maintain your results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of XEOMIN?
The cost of XEOMIN treatment will depend on the amount needed to address your needs and concerns. Once our team learns about your personal cosmetic goals, we will create a custom treatment plan and provide you with a cost estimate. Lubbock Plastic Surgery Institute accepts several convenient forms of payment and may offer specials on XEOMIN and other nonsurgical treatments.

Should I get XEOMIN or BOTOX?
Both XEOMIN and BOTOX are wrinkle relaxers made with a purified strain of botulinum toxin. Our skilled team at Lubbock Plastic Surgery Institute understands the differences between wrinkle relaxers and can determine the treatment option most likely to deliver optimal results for each individual. When you visit for your consultation, Dr. Schmid or Dr. Mooty will talk with you about your specific cosmetic concerns before deciding if XEOMIN or an alternative solution is right for your goals.

Should I get XEOMIN or dermal fillers?
XEOMIN is a wrinkle relaxer that improves dynamic facial wrinkles, especially the frown lines between your eyebrows (glabellar lines). A dermal filler treats static wrinkles and restores volume. After learning more about your unique needs, we can help you determine if you should receive XEOMIN, a dermal filler, or both.

Is XEOMIN safe?
XEOMIN has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a cosmetic treatment and can be used safely on most men and women. During your initial visit, we will review your medical history and talk with you about any known allergies, as well as prescription medications, herbs, and supplements you are taking. Having a comprehensive understanding of this information can minimize the risk of complications or side effects.

How often should I receive XEOMIN injections?
Improvements from a XEOMIN treatment session can be visible for up to 90 days. Every patient will metabolize the formula differently, which will determine how long the individual treatment results last. We will help you determine how often touch-up appointments may be needed to maintain your aesthetic outcomes.
